History: The wine Monte das Ânforas gets its name to the estate “Herdade das Ânforas” in Arraiolos as a decorative element that has a collection of amphorae or "carvings" remarkable. Traditionally in the Alentejo region resorted to ceramic amphorae for wine factory. The solution was found to alleviate the difficulty of using good wood for building barrels occurrence that was felt throughout the Mediterranean basin.

Profile: The harvest of 2012 was produced from a selection of Aragonez and Trincadeira Grapes grown in different vineyards of the Alentejo. The Aragones and Trincadeira are produced: Arronches (Portalegre) Oratory (Borba) Redondo and Arraiolos and where soils predominate Clay-shale.

Winemaking: The winemaking wine Monte das Ânforas is made in the new and modern winery Quinta do Carmo Estremoz. We make a traditional vinification with maceration short where the varieties are vinified separately in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature to enable us to preserve the fruity aromas. At the end of the batch fermentation is done so a wine originated modern, young and fresh.

Tasting Notes

Colour/Aroma: Deep color and a rich bouquet with notes of red fruits.
Palate: The palate is full bodied and smooth with a good sense of freshness and note where the flavors of red fruits combined with spicy notes.

Gastronomy: The Monte das Ânforas 2015 with its aromatic richness accompanies meat dishes or grilled fish and salads complete like a Caesar salad.
