Dom Rafael DOC White 2013

Grape varieties: Antão Vaz,  Arinto and Perrum.

Production method: The grapes of the three varieties are picked at the optimum time and vinified separately. After maceration the temperature of the must is lowered to 10ºC for 48 hours and then fermented in stainless steel vats at 15ºC. After a short period in stainless steel the wine is bottled in February 2014.

Climate: Mediterranean; with cold winters, rainfall concentrated between October and February (with an average annual rainfall of 700mm) and hot summers with temperatures reading 40ºC at the time of maturation.

Soil: A Mediterranean mix of clay and sand; poor to average quality.

 

TASTING NOTES:

Aroma: This wine presents aromas with citrus hues where minerality blends harmoniously with tropical fruits.
Palate: On the palate, a marked softness counter balances an exuberant freshness. The persistence and irreverence mark the presence of the wine in the mouth.

Serving suggestions: Serve at 9-10ºC accompanied by what we call “petiscos” in Portugal – e.g. olives, cheeses, smoked meats – or smoked salmon.
