Adega Cooperativa de Redondo

The Adega Cooperativa de Redondo (ACR) is one of the greatest success stories in Portuguese winemaking, particularly as it is already more than 50 years old.

It’s an amazing story of success in which one sole producer now sells 15 million bottles per year.

These numbers serve as absolute proof of the size, prestige and reputation achieved in a market with ever more demanding consumers. ACR has been one of those most responsible for the intense popularity of Alentejo wines, which started back in the 1980s when Porta da Ravessa catapulted to the position of the best selling Portuguese wine, due to its excellent value for the money.

The truth is the rest of their product range such as Real Lavrador and Terra d´Ossa are equally successful in their market segments. Other wines including Aragonez-Cabernet Sauvignon ACR, Chardonnay ACR, Touriga Nacional ACR and Trincadeira-Merlot ACR are aimed at specific niche markets.

Anta da Serra and Reserva ACR wines are more exclusive and appeal to more discriminating consumers, whilst Garrafeira ACR is a truly select wine positioned at the top of the range. A  ACNielsen study of Portuguese wines found that ACR was the market leader with 12.1 % of the Portuguese market. The study also found that Porta da Ravessa was the brand leader with 5.1% of the market, whilst Real Lavrador is the fourth most popular Portuguese brand amongst the consumers.
