Ribafreixo is an ambitious, innovative wine producer in the heart of the Alentejo.
Mário Pinheiro and Nuno Bicó together with the renowned winemaker Paulo Laureano have started producing red and white wines of excellence at this boutique winery. In just three years they have bought 28 abandoned plots and united them into one 114-hectare property irrigated by the Alqueva reservoir. They have recuperated existing vineyards and planted new plots with indigenous Portuguese varieties.
Herdade do Moinho Branco lies on the main road that crosses the Lower Alentejo, 500 metres from the town of Vidigueira, nestled amongst vineyards and olive groves and bordered by the hills of the Serra do Mendro.
The new winery opened its doors for the 2012 harvest and is designed to compete with the best of the modern facilities. Its 4,000 m2 are equipped with top-notch technology for the production and bottling of wine (oak barrels, stainless steel vats, bottling and labelling lines and laboratory), with a production capacity of more than 1,000,000 bottles.
Large, modern facilities are ready to welcome tourists. A wine shop, kitchen and tasting room, and a majestic view over the vineyards make this winery the seductive heart of an ambitious business that has resulted from the hard work of our team.
The modern building nestled amidst the extensive Herdade do Moinho Branco vineyards is an imposing sight that can be seen from the P2, the main road between Évora and Beja.

Ribafreixo Wines original aim was to create a wine tourism project which complemented its vineyards and winery as well as having a strong connection with Vidigueira as well as Beja and Évora. This was the starting point for the construction of our new winery, a modern state-of-the-art building inaugurated in 2012.
The wine tourism project took off in 2014 with the opening of a spacious, modern multipurpose venue for social occasions such as events, business meetings, conferences, etc. This social area comprises the Wine Shop, where visitors can purchase our wines at the best prices in the market, the Tasting Room where our wines can be discovered and tasted under guidance of an experienced oenologist.
In this area you will be confronted with our amazingly Panoramic Restaurant, which welcomes diners in a refined ambience focused on wine-based themes with its delicious Alentejo style gastronomy, fine food created exclusively by Chef Sónia Sério. To pair with this versatile and exciting menu, we are proud to serve highly gastronomical and unique wines, made from Portuguese grapes and distinguished internationally at numerous renowned competitions.

It's the welcome desk in our cellar. Visitors will be able to purchase our wines here. What are the advantages of visiting our store: personalized bilingual service; the lowest prices on the market; fast and simple payment; open to the weekend and holidays from 9am to 6pm.
Guests can drink a glass of wine while enjoying a magnificent landscape over the vineyards. In this room there is capacity for about 50 seats.
All visitors who want to taste our wines and also want to know more about them. Tastings will always be accompanied by a duly trained employee.
