Monte dos Perdigões lies in sight of Reguengos de Monsaraz. Although it has belonged to Granadeiro since 2001, Perdigões has long been a refuse for artists and free thinkers. It was once the home of the philosopher Damião de Góis, friend and student of Erasmus. Generations later, the illustrious musician Luis de Freitas Branco wrote some his most noteworthy compositions whilst living there.
Its modern winery is replete with magnificent Alentejo marble and French oak. It is here that the Granadeiro wines are made and bottled under the watchful eye of head winemaker Pedro Baptista and inspired by the vision of Henrique Granadeiro. In addition to serving as head of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, Granadeiro has had a long and renowned career spanning both the public and private sectors. In 2001 he brought his expertise and his name to his own winemaking business so that now he is making high quality wines in the heart of his native region.
