Herdade do Perdigão

Herdade do Perdigão is located in Monforte, in the heart of the Upper Alentejo. The estate enjoys the climate of the Serra de São Mamede which, in conjunction with the special features of the vineyard, produces distinct and unsurpassed wines.

This unique location has a long tradition of making wine. The lands around Monforte have been producing wine for more than 2000 years. The Romans applied their know-how and the resulting wines travelled as far as the Roman Imperial court.

With the Phylloxera blight in the 19th century, viticulture was totally abandoned in the Monforte region, with the exception of the estate of Herdade do Perdigão. Faith in the potential of this land led the owners to plant 14 hectares with vines. Today, the estate comprises 40 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly with traditional and indigenous grape varieties, the source of the nectars produced by this winery, which is becoming better and better recognised in the market.
