Évora Wine returns this year with 200 wines and 40 producers

The event dedicated to Alentejo wines returns to the city this year, from the 26th to the 28th of this month, with "the biggest edition ever", after two years of interruption due to the covid-19 pandemic, was announced today.

With 200 wines on display and a record number of 40 associated producers, the seventh edition of the event, which will once again be held at Praça do Giraldo, in Évora, will be "the biggest edition ever" and expects more than seven thousand visitors, said the organization.

Évora Wine is promoted by two companies, which, in this edition, have a partnership with the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo, the Alentejo Regional Winegrowing Commission (CVRA), the Confraria dos Enófilos do Alentejo and the Évora Chamber.

Dubbed by promoters as "the biggest wine event in the Alentejo", the initiative, with free admission, promises to "make known the best" of the Alentejo region, "from wine to tourism, through culture and gastronomy".

The "Andanças do Vinho e do Petisco" initiative, which marks the beginning of the event, on the 26th, at 5:00 pm, consists of a tour of Évora, passing through four restaurants and tasting the region's wines, paired with snacks.

Also on the 26th, there will be a dinner called "Celebrating the Alentejo", in which Évora Wine will award prizes to personalities who have distinguished themselves in the Alentejo wine, tourism and culture sectors.

The Confraria dos Enófilos do Alentejo will also award prizes to the best wines of Alentejo.

On the 27th, at 4:30 pm, on the Alentejo Wine Route, the opening session of Évora Wine will be held, followed by a lecture on sustainability in the sector, with the president of CVRA, Francisco Mateus.

This initiative also includes the presentation of the book "Tabernas do Alentejo -- art & science", resulting from a project by the School of Science and Technology of the University of Évora and which has the 'signature' of several personalities.

The attention then moves to Praça do Giraldo, from 18:00, with the opening of the event's doors, followed by a 'showcooking' session.

Also for this day, the performance of Alentejo singers, with the group Os Almocreves, and jazz, with the musician Rodrigo Lima.
