This impressive estate 6km south west of Reguengos de Monsaraz was one of the first in Portugal to get involved in ‘wine tourism’. Still today they are one of the country’s top wine venues.

There’s an excellent restaurant, Galeria, serving modern Alentejano cuisine and a wine bar with a view. The shop sells the estate’s olive oils and cheeses as well as the wines.

By appointment, you can also tour the winery, taste the wines, take a drive by jeep around the reservoir, through the vineyards and olive groves; or you might opt for a butterfly or bird-watching tour, or a historical-cultural itinerary.

The famous Esporão Tower (also by appointment) has an archaeology museum, a display of Esporão labels by famous artists, and fine views from the top.
