Ana Bicó and Miguel Silvestre Ferreira took over the family estate Herdade do Pinheiro after the death of their grandfather António Francisco Ferreira Silvestre, an agricultural entrepreneur who came to the Alentejo in the late 1950s, bringing with him a passion for the vine and wine culture.
Their high quality wines have won several national and international awards, proving that the region of Ferreira do Alentejo is among the best wine regions of Portugal. The desire to preserve and cherish over 100 years of deeply rooted family tradition is what led them to further develop their wine business.
Visitors can enjoy guided tours to the vineyards, the modern winery, bottling facilities and the barrel cellar. They can also visit the property’s reservoir with its rich flora and fauna, including beautiful birds such as long-legged stone-curlews (a rare species in Portugal), stonechats, flamingos, grebes and wild ducks.
We also have a shop, where visitors can purchase our wines, home-made jams and olive oil.
Wine tasting along with a selection of regional Alentejo specialities (cheese, ham and sausages, bread, olive oil and jams) is available upon request (15€/pax).
Indeed, Herdade do Pinheiro offers a tranquil refuge for outings with family or friends.
