This small business is headquartered in Nossa Senhora de Orada (Our Lady of Prayers), a parish named for being the site of the prayers of Nuno Álvares Pereira, the Santo Condestável. This Portuguese general, largely responsible for ensuring Portuguese independence from Castile in the 14th century, stopped here with his troops for prayer on their way to the Battle of the Atoleiros. He later became a mystic and a Carmelite monk and was canonised in 2009.

The small, family estate is located in the heart of this parish. In 2002 a small plot of vines was planted which grapes give raise to the “Vinhos do Canto”, particularly the PGI Vinho Regional Alentejano red Monte do Canto.

Monte do Canto is a blend of the Portuguese grape varieties Aragonez, Trincadeira and Castelão, planted on calcareous-clay soils, bathed in the strong Alentejo sun.

Monte do Canto is a young, aromatic wine that is a pleasure to taste, particularly when paired with meat, fish or game dishes or a variety of cheeses.

From winemaking to bottling to labelling, all of the processes are practically handmade, carried out with effort, love and affection under the guidance of both the technical manager and the owner.
