Herdade dos Coelheiros is a family estate that is a member of the Alentejo Wine Route. This 800-hectare property hosts all the Alentejo agricultural traditions from vineyards to olive and walnut groves, to cork oak forests, as well as serving as a hunting preserve.
Monte de Coelheiros welcomes visitors, offering them a comfortable stay in the midst of idyllic natural environment where they can learn about the farming and hunting traditions, taste the estate’s cuisine accompanied by our own wines, such as Tapada dos Coelheiros, Vinha da Tapada Coelheiros and Branca de Almeida. They can also take guided hikes around picturesque and historical spots in the area of Évora.
Visit a typical Alentejo estate: with its vineyards, its olive and walnut groves and forests of cork and holm oaks. It is rich, as well, in ponds, natural springs and reservoirs and there are also wild open spaces where the big game and Iberian black pigs run wild.
The vines are grown on bi-lateral cordon trellis system, without irrigation. Plantings include red and white varieties indigenous to the Alentejo (Arinto, Roupeiro, Antão Vaz, Trincadeira, Aragonez, Alicante Bouschet and Castelão) as well as international ones (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah).
The modern winery allies traditional techniques, and all the processes are carefully monitored according to Quality Control and Food Safety: ISO 9001 and ISO 22000. There is also an oak barrel ageing cellar.
